Port Huron Market Demographics

  • Population 32,000, located in St. Clair County (population 164,000) along Lake Huron and the St. Clair River, 57 miles north of Detroit and 60 miles east of Flint.  Across the Blue Water Bridges lies our international neighbor, Sarnia, Ontario, Canada.

  • Port Huron is the major Downtown Retail District in St. Clair County with a population of more than 250,000 within a 30-mile radius.

  • An 11 block Central Business District (CBD) that includes city, county, state and federal offices, and more than 10,000 employees overall.  Over 7,000 students attend St. Clair County Community College, located Downtown.

  • The CBD hosts retail and service businesses, waterfront dining and entertainment facilities.  A newly expanded Port Huron Yacht Club, with an expanded marina basin, welcomes boating visitors to our shores.

  • Within one mile of the Blue Water Bridges, the second busiest entry point into the U.S. from Canada, providing a direct connection to the Canadian market.  Sarnia, Ontario, hosts a population of 70,000, with Sarnia-Lambton County population of 129,000.  The two spans of the Blue Water Bridges offer efficient travel for more than 5 million commercial and passenger vehicles annually.

  • Surrounding neighborhoods host many quality senior housing communities.  A bustling County Senior Center brings seniors to Downtown for shopping, dining and entertainment.

  • McMorran Place - our community's convention/conference and cultural center features a movie theatre, two ice surfaces and is home to the Port Huron Beacons, professional UHL hockey team, in addition to local amateur hockey teams.

  • Waterfront access - the Black River dissects the Downtown with several drawbridges and beautiful vistas of the St. Clair and Black Rivers.  City and private marinas are situated within the Downtown area.

  • A bustling Industrial Park - home to over 40 manufacturers of plastics and automotive-related industries employing over 3,000.

  • Special events and celebrations all year round.  IceFest, Art on the Avenue, Happy Apple Days, and Merry MainStreet are examples of the events that provide free activities and entertainment for the whole family.  The annual Port Huron to Mackinac Yacht Race activities in July bring more than 100,000 visitors to Downtown.
